Day one – Leaving Sydney
Our flight to Sydney was delayed by about 30 mins – not a problem to us as we have allowed ourselves plenty of time to get to the ship.
We met a couple called Carol & Brian on the train – they were from Caboulture and she was so funny as everything the train stopped she would start to get out and her husband would have to tell her “not this stop” – so when we finally reached Circular Quay she was that excited.
We went and had a coffee at Starbucks and just sat looking at our ship on the harbour – It was a pretty good sight.
Checkin took over 1 ½ hours which was a pain but nothing you could do as you had to check your bags in one line then go into another line to go thru customs then finally the last checkin was the ship.
We are on deck 3 and our cabin is 3116 – it’s a little bit small but it has everything that we need – shower – tv – coffee making facilities and a big beautiful window to look out on the ocean.
When we walked into our room the first thing I saw was the Sydney Opera House thru our window – what a site.
We went to dinner last night Edelweiss Room – we are table 14.
Quite a nice group of people but one lady tells us all about her family and they are like married to the united nations – not an aussie to be seen.
Today is the day that we start to familiarise ourselves with life on the ship.
We went to the Windjammer Restaurant for breakfast - it’s a buffet – so I had a bowl of fresh – and I mean fresh pineapple, rockmelon, kiwi fruit, water melon and Mick had some scrambled eggs hash brown and toast, then some fruit.
The thing we like is that you can take what you want – and go back for more if you choose – where as in the Edelweiss you pick from a menue.
The weather is a little bit cool but when you get on the side of the ship with the sun its great.
We sat on banana lounges and watched the world go by for about 1 hour and it was soooooooooooo gooooooooooood
After lunch I went to Cha Cha classes and enjoyed myself – very easy steps but at least I knew everything that they were doing – my partner was Stephen and he comes from St Kilda – a really nice guy who has been on 16 cruises, so he was very easy to talk to. Tomorrow is Ballroom – being the Waltz which I am trying to talk Mick into coming with me.
Our table is really starting to come together with everyone talking to each other and gradually learning their names.
We had photos taken with the captain and will view them tomorrow – we went to the Piano Man tribute concert tonight which was good but had an awesome tim afterwards in the Champagne Lounge with the band playing – they were fantastic and I danced the night away, we are going to see them tomorrow night in the Shall we dance lounge. All in all it’s a fantastic time so far and we still have 4 more days of sailing before we reach Bora Bora.
Day 3
Today was a very quite day with lazing and working on my tan
We went into the dining room for lunch and I had the most beautiful salmon salad. The salmon just melted in your mouth and there was plenty of salad – but its only the salad that I chose to eat – which they make up specially for you when you order.
I have joined the hip hop review which is a group of people learning the hip hop and we will proform at our gala dance night before we dock at Hawaii – it should be such a laugh as I am sooooooooooo dyslexic
It was 70’s night and alot of people dress in their gear and they looked great
Our table is hysterical and we laughed and laughed all thru dinner, when I left my sides were sore from too much laughter.
In the Centrum lounge tonight they put on a 70’s show which was absolutely amazing. All the crew dressed up and they played all these songs from that era and they were up there dancing and singing. It was one of the best shows that I have seen, then we headed up to the Viking Lounge on the 11th floor to the disco and danced the night away.
Every day for the past two days we have had to put our clock forward at mid day to 1pm – gearing up for the international dateline – and Thursday we will have two Thursday’s as the second one will be when we cross the dateline.
Mick went to the movies today and watch a movie called the couples – I started to watch it in the theatre but thought it a bit stupid.
Tonight is neat casual for dinner then we will be off to explore what ever music we can find.
Day’s 5 6 & 7
The last few days have been amazing to say the least – there have been all sorts of activities – shows – dinners and so on.
Last night we had a bbq at 11pm by the pool with the band playing and everyone dancing around the pool,
A couple of nights ago was rock n roll night and we sat at the bar in the Shall we dance lounge and listened to the music all night long – we had Thea & Julian and then Phillip, Judy & Marg came and sat at the bar with us – OMG
This morning while I was doing the sunrise photos there was the sighting of our first island since leaving sydney, it’s apparently one of the little islands connected with the Cook Islands.
